Forecast calls for Water-Logged Soccer

April 27th, 2008, 11:00 pm

Well yesterday it rained (no really, it did - I’m not making it up). Which means that instead of our area being 30ft below our normal water line - we are only like 29ft now. Hey, you know what they say; “every bit counts”, and Let me tell you, after using dial-up - I agree 100%.

So naturally, after raining the sun came out and started to heat up the area - which always leads to wind because of the evaporating water. (and I love wind) So, I couldn’t wait to get outside and do something.

SOCCER!

Yes, yesterday was also soccer! Which meant we had a partly sunny/cloudy day with a nice breeze and a freshly watered field. Great… except the field was a little too watered - actually, more like soaked. So It didn’t take long for the slip’n and sliden to begin. Though, some-how my brother and I made it though 2+ hours of soccer without falling into the mud. It must have been one of God’s Miracles.

I was a defender on the south side of the field - which had a lot more water than the north. Therefore, if you have ever tried to run in water or kick a ball in it you know that it certainly possesses a challenge. I can’t tell you how many times a striker from the other team breached our defense and ran all the way to the goal only to fall, slip, miss, or lose the ball in our puddles. That left-over rain is the best defense I have ever seen. (Plus its cool when your goalie slides 9 feet and ends up catching a ball.)

Other than that… I got to go to wally-world (Walmart) to buy ice cream, found 8 (good) used movies for only $8.00, and deposited about 1k into my bank - all of which was pretty cool.
